Fall Break

Howdy, folks. I've returned to the Union campus after a lovely Fall Break. It was pretty short, but I'm not complaining- I had a great time.

I left last Wednesday right after my second World Civ test...and after sitting in line at Kroger for twenty minutes to fill up...and waiting ten minutes at Chick Fil A for a small lunch. But nonetheless, I finally got out of Jackson and made it home. About an hour after being home me and my friend Mary freshened up and headed to good ol' St. Louis to see Ben Rector.

This was our second time seeing Ben live- the first was back in March when he opened for Needtobreathe. This was also my third time being at the Old Rock House, one of my favorite venues. The concert was so very great.

Andrew Ripp opened for Ben, and we got to meet him after his set. What a guy. So very talented and a treat to talk with.

He sure knows what's up. And he is terribly underrated.

Thursday was a lovely day, as well. I went and got my first of two varicella vaccines, and I swear the lady asked me if I was allergic to AIDS. After that, me and two friends went and visited our Graphic Arts classroom. It was so weird to be back in there. Memories outta this world. I talked with my teacher and some of the now second-year students in there. It was nice to be back.
That evening, I went out to eat Mexican with three of my dude-friends. It was entertaining to say the least. From there we went to our home church to walk through this year's Judgement House. I was very sad that I couldn't be a guide this year because of college, but I'm glad I got to go see it. I was reunited with many church people I hadn't seen since I left, so it was nice. After that, we went and hung out at Dairy Queen. How fun? Haha.

Friday was my dad's birthday. Before I went home, I made him a gift out of all that a college kid can scrounge up as art supplies: mini cereal boxes, a pringles can, and scotch tape. Luckily, he appreciates anything handmade and anything from me.

Happy birthday to the # (5)1 dad!

That afternoon I drove to Memphis where one of my roommates, Danica, lives and we went to Mud Island to see The Avett Brothers. I'd never seen them live before, so it was quite the experience.

Saturday afternoon I went with Mary to let out the dog at a friend's house. This dog is my number one, and I hadn't seen him in FOREVER. Needless to say, I was very excited to reunite with him.

I also got a soda. :(

Saturday night I decided I wanted to go be IN Judgement House. I got to be in the Hell scene, which is totally fun, believe it or not. The first couple groups that came in- I was a sufferer. I got to sit against the wall with shackles on and cry and reach out for people while screaming things to the nature of "Help me! I don't belong here! This was a mistake! I miss my family! Please get me out of here! Don't just stand there! I need water!" Disturbingly fun. The rest of the night I got to be a demon which was even more fun. Getting to get up in peoples faces and scream at them when they leave, not to mention throwing around the character who was sent to Hell. So fun, even though it really shouldn't be.

Point of view in-between scenes as a sufferer.

The rest of my time off was spent relaxing and catching up on season four of Modern Family. This season is SO GOOD. A definite step up from the last season, y'all.

Now I am back in the swing of schoolin. The slowly but surely changing leaves are distracting, though. It's so pretty here.

Happy Fall Y'all

Fall is upon us, folks.  A friend gave us a pumpkin when they were visiting, and we finally got around to painting it and sticking it outside our door. We spent a week trying to decide what we were going to paint on it. Ideas bounced from chevron to glittery gold, but I finally just said "You know what? Gimme. I'm just gonna do something. I don't know what," and picked up the pumpkin and a paintbrush. Turned out writing "Happy Fall Y'all" which is hilarious in the fact that Jess is from Maine and she still isn't used to saying "Y'all." So this doodley pumpkin is now sitting in front of our door at Paschall 59! Hopefully it lasts til Halloween, at least! Probably not, though. I will hopefully post some more things sooner. I said months, if not years ago that I was finally going to do this blog for real, haha. See you later, :)
